10/11/10 - R2 P2 D23 VLCD 21
R1 - Last dose weight 7/20/10: 159.2

R2 - Day 1 weight 9/19/10: 165.0

Today’s weight : 152.6

Total loss round 2: 12.4 lbs

Total loss on HCG: 32.2 lbs

Net loss over the last two days is only 0.2 - putting my daily average at 0.56 lbs/day.

I am ,okay with that. With potentially 11 days to go, another 6lbs would put me very close to that silver medal of 145, and I believe that anything is possible!

I am having some 'cravings' but not desperate ones. Just some things I am looking forward to on P3.

Peanut butter (just a tablespoon, please!)

Sliced turkey with avocado and tomato!!

A big salad with lettuce, tomato, cukes, green pepper, onion, grilled chicken and a little salad dressing! Love them!

A whole bag of frozen broccoli/cauliflower mix!

Zucchini lasagna!!!

Cheese!

Omelets with ham, green pepper, mushrooms, onions and cheese.

Sliced tomato baked with parmesan cheese and pizza spices!

Pork loin.

Shrimp stir fry with lots of veggies!

Okay, that was fun!!!

Take care all! See you soon!

1.8 lb loss today - couldn't be happier.

I feel great, have lots of energy, and my attitude is extremely positive!

I am gearing up for a work weekend - traditionally hospital employees are world-class eaters and my hospital is no exception. I plan to do some baking to add to the food melee but will only eat my P2 items brought from home. Everyone is very good about not putting on the pressure during my P2 periods.

I ran once this week, and plan to sign up for another timed run on October 23rd - deciding whether to do the 5k or 10k . . . but will probably shoot for the 10k!

I love October in Wisconsin . . . soooo pretty!!!

Total loss on HCG: 29.6 lbs

Well . . . last weekend was a disaster as far as dieting goes.

Thursday night 9/30 we checked into the hotel. Friday was kindof a cluster and we ended up going out to eat - I didn't do too badly but was definitely off protocol. Saturday night we had a planned event - a semi-formal dinner party - I didn't do too badly that day either. Sunday I was supposed to get back on track . . . didn't happen. Monday was my worst day - and I'm not sure why. I wanted to be back on protocol but ended up eating popcorn and alot of potato chips.

Then my sis got a hold of me and made me look at what I was doing. Was I quitting? Was I just done?? Did I want to lose more weight and why??

Tuesday was better. Wednesday was great!

So I am here to admit that I fell down . . . hard . . . and decided to get back up.

Admittedly, I could be done losing weight now. I mean I am at the high range of my healthy weight for my height and weigh less now than I ever have in my adult life, but I set a goal for myself and would like to finish the journey strong so that I can always look back knowing I didn't give up.

Today’s weight : 157.6.0

Total loss round 2: 7.4 lbs

Total loss on HCG: 27.2 lbs

Lost 1 lb yesterday and 0.4 lbs today so I am pleased. My average right now is about .8lbs per day, and I expect that to decline as I get further into the round. I will be satisfied to end with an average loss of .5 per day. At that rate I will hit my bronze medal somewhere around October 8th, but maybe sooner.

I behaved very well on my eating plan yesterday. Today was a little harder. They are having a huge bake sale benefit at work tomorrow so I spent the morning making pumpkin bars, carrot cake, 6 loaves of banana bread, plus then cooked up a new meatball recipe for dinner for the family and tried the spinach stuffed chicken roll-ups from the Tammy Skye cookbook. I was a bakin' fool today!

My only 'cheats' were one good lick of the spatula during banana bread time and I had to try the new meatball recipe to be sure it was palatable for those finicky kids.

I still managed to stay at only 505 for the day, so I am particularly pleased, although I ate more fat grams that I have on other days.

Looking forward to breaking the 157.2 low I hit on P3 back in August so I can finally move my ticker!!!

Still feeling great, although I am looking forward to adding back some of the healthy favorites I enjoyed between rounds. I miss my big salads!

Also looking forward to experimenting with more recipes from the Tammy Skye cookbook - some very interesting items in there!!

Today I was at my sister's and since she is on HCG phase 2 also, we ate together!!!

I weighed on her scale, which I think is comparable to mine. We'll find out for sure tomorrow, but in the meantime the numbers are GREAT! I am under LDW from last round - so any and all progress from here on out is new ground baby!!

She makes a tasty chili with crushed tomatoes, ground chicken and chili powder! We had cucumbers and shrimp for dinner and once again, Frank's Red Hot tastes GOOOOOOD on some shrimp!!

I was sooooo happy to be on the VLCD today!! I had my creamless coffee (only stevia) at breakfast time and an apple around 11:30am.

Lunch was curry shrimp and asparagus (yum) around 1:30pm. Since I work til 3am tonight, I wanted to hold off dinner as long as possible. I ended up eating at 7pm watching the Biggest Loser Season premiere. I had an old favorite – a huge plate of lettuce with taco-seasoned lean ground beef. Then 250g of strawberries at about 9-9:30pm or so.

I didn’t have any hunger, fatigue, weakness or headache today. I drank lots of iced tea and coffee (I drink ½ caff), but I am not a big water drinker!

Tomorrow is a lifing day – the workouts are short and I hope to be able to continue them 2-3 times a week during phase 2.

I gave myself license to ‘misbehave’ in the last week or so knowing I was going back on phase 2. Actually, what I didn’t do was follow the Simeon’s protocol when I was 2lbs over LDW, which states to have a steak day (I call them protein correction days).

If nothing else, I have a goal to obey that rule once this phase 2 is complete. I will have reached my ultimate goal weight, and the only way to stay there is to be vigilant about it.

I am excited to start the VLCD tomorrow, very excited. I have two weeks worth of proteins in the freezer and several days of fresh fruit and veggies ready to go. I will woefully miss my coffee creamer, but stevia and I have made friends . . .:)

Here we go again!

09/08/10 - 48 days post HCG phase 2

Day 1 weight 6/13/10: 184.8

Last dose weight 7/20/10: 159.2

Today's weight: 161.2

Last weekend we had a scheduled outing with friends that involved a movie theater – and popcorn – lots of it. It is well known about me that I like my movie popcorn and like it with a lot of butter topping. I ate ½ the bucket – which is conservative by my standards of popcorn eating. Sunday I had a few small brownies with ice cream and so I was deservedly up on Monday (164.8) and Tuesday 164.0.

Tuesday was a ‘steak day’ essentially. Coffee and 1 ½ eggs for breakfast. A string cheese late morning. Nothing at lunchtime. A large salad and steak at dinnertime. Plus a little popcorn with the gals at work.

It seemed to work. Woke up today (Weds) at 161.2 – exactly 2 lbs over LDW. So phase 4 eating plus it was a workout day. I had 2 eggs, coffee and 1 ezekiel bread for breakfast. I had a protein shake, string cheese and some nuts along with two BK side salads for lunch after workout. Had a few almonds and 2 more string cheese for a snack, then big salad with chicken, 2 tilapia filets and a bag of steamable broccoli/cauliflower for dinner. Calorie total is under 1800, carbs under 100, protein at 150 – that is a pretty good phase 4 day for me.

I am still running. I had a long 7 ½ mile run on Labor Day and a short 3 mile run today. Only 11 more days until the half marathon and Round 2!!!

I am very pleased with the results of this plan and looking forward to continued success!!

Feeling great!

Had a great protein steak day yesterday. 251g protein, only 41g carbs – now that’s a steak day!!!

My attitude and energy are both up – and I couldn’t be more pleased with my current situation!

I am currently reading “The Perfect Body Diet” by Cassandra Forsythe and “The New Rules of Lifting for Women” by Lou Schuler – and just realized that it is co authored by Cassandra Forsythe! No wonder the books agree so much! Duh! Sometimes my powers of observation escape me completely!!!

Anyway – I am enjoying all the diet part and dreading all the weightlifting part. I can’t wait for the resistance training/weight training to be as comfortable a part of my life as eating and running!

I have decided to do a second round of phase 2 in September after my half marathon. Actually I plan to start that day – after the race. I want to see what 140-145 looks like.

Besides, I bought a dress that my husband and I were oogling from Frederick’s of Hollywood online and should have gotten it in a large, not medium. I took it to work and tried it on in the bathroom – and got stuck. Seriously, I almost needed help getting out of it. So I figured, What the Heck – let’s see how she fits at 145?!?!?

Life Rocks! God is GREAT!!

8/19/10 - 28 days post HCG phase 2

08/19/10 - 28 days post HCG phase 2

Day 1 weight 6/13/10: 184.8
Last dose weight 7/20/10: 159.2
Today's weight: 161.2

Last Saturday, 8/14 we attended a wedding. I had planned to eat conservatively and it went pretty well until the cake was served. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they served each table a selection of individual 3x3 cakes with 1/2 inch of frosting all around decorated in Snicker, Oreo, Andes' Mint, Turtle, Cheesecake, Death by Chocolate, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and one more I cannot remember. How evil. My plan was to eat 1/2 of one piece but I ended up eating two pieces. Then just as we were preparing to leave they brought in pizza. And I don't usually give in to carbs like that but my "NO" button was broken.

Sunday I was up to 167. We were travelling home and I did not have a very clean day on Sunday either. Monday was 165.8lbs. So on Monday I did a steak day. Tuesday I was very disappointed that I had not 'recovered' and was still at 165. Now what??

Then I called my sis (my rock and resource). She said to do protein rotation days, steak day, egg day, chicken day, steak day . . . as needed until I was back in range. So Tuesday I did and egg day - 4 for breakfast, 4 for lunch, 6 for dinner and 2 later in the evening, plus a can of water packed tuna with 1tbsp mayo at lunchtime to break things up.

It helped . . . alot. Wednesday I was at 162.2 - 3lbs over LDW and one pound away from my 'maintenance range'. So I decided to do a clean P3 day on Wednesday. I had eggs/coffee for breakfast, a big salad with lots of protein and ranch dressing for lunch, and then tilapia, chicken, cauliflower and milk for dinner. After dinner I made individual sugar free pudding parfaits for everyone thinking they would be a low carb tasty snack. They were tasty but I ended up eating 43grams of carbs right before bed - over 1/3 of my total for the day. I thought for sure I would be even or up today.

Miracle of miracles - 161.2 today!!! So today I get to eat on my "LIFE" plan. Ezekiel bread, eggs, coffee for breakfast - a big salad with protein for lunch - and a balanced dinner. Now that I am officially past my 3 weeks of phase 3 I will try to eat on the "LIFE" plan to drop a few more pounds before the half marathon in mid-September.

The exercising is still going well. Still running 3 days a week and have weight training in sight. Have to skip this week since I have my 4 kids and 3 of my sisters - no way to get to the gym with 7 kids!!

Also - I am reading "The Perfect Body Diet" by Cassandra Forsythe. I am only 85 pages in but am really agreeing with what I am reading so far about eating a good balance of healthy carbs, fats, proteins. The book also discusses exercise and weight training but I haven't gotten that far yet. I hope to make this book my diet and exercise "bible".
See ya soon!

8/11/20 P3D20 morning

08/11/10 P3D20

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 160.2

On Friday 8/6 I did a steak day to recover from Wednesday nights beer/popcorn binge that brought me up to 164.4. It worked. On Saturday morning I was at 161.2 - exactly 2 lbs over LDW.

Saturday we had a massive birthday party for my sis, sis in law, 2 nieces, my 5 year old and my twins that just turned one. Thing I shouldn't have eaten include, cheezy poofs, tuna salad with noodles, cake, ice cream, and a few potato chips. So Sunday I was back up to 164 = another steak day. On Sunday I had only coffee until 5:30pm then had a 15oz round steak with a huge tomato.

Monday morning I was back down to 161.0. Gotta love a good steak day. Monday I got in a good run too. 25 min at 7.3 mph (keep in mind that I think my treadmill is off and I think that speed is actually about 6.5mph) then 5 one-minute intervals at 10.0 mph. I love that routine! I ate pretty clean the rest of the day. My only 'illegal' food was a few crackers around dinnertime. Otherwise it was eggs, cheese, melon, banana, peanut butter, a huge salad, chicken, veggies and my staple almonds.

Total calorie intake for Monday 8/10/10 was around 2400. After the 550 I burned with the run my net calories was around 1850 - and I think that is a great number to aim for right now.

My desire is to eat reasonably for the rest of the week and creep back down to the 157 range before a wedding we are attending this weekend so I can be comfortable in the killer dress I want to wear!!!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 164.4

Hello All!

I apologize for the days of no commenting but have had a wonderful 5 days alone with my husband, no kids or computers (not decent ones anyway).

On Saturday 8/31 I weighed in at my low of 157.2. Sunday was about the same. Sunday night we were camping. I had a big salad for lunch that day and we grilled out steaks & veggies for dinner. I also had two Miller lites. Monday I was up to 159.8. I went for a nice run Monday morning and we golfed 9 holes that afternoon. We had beef stew over the campfire for dinner (I avoided the potatoes as much as possible). Tuesday morning I was down a little at 159.4. Tuesday we packed up camp and moved to a nice hotel to pamper ourselves for two days. We got all dressed up for dinner. I had lamb, veggies and a salad, but also had several glasses of wine and a cocktail. Damage was minimal, Wednesday’s weight was 159.6. I had a GREAT run Wednesday morning and we golfed another 9 holes. We went to Hooters for dinner where I had a philly steak sandwich (threw out the bun) but did indulge in some onion tanglers and fried pickles. I had one cocktail and one or two pints of beer at Hooters.

Then came the evil! We decided to stop at a local corner bar before heading back to the hotel. I had 2 more beers . . . . and too much of the greasy popcorn the bar had available, not to mention that we were eating it til 1am.

Damage: Thursday’s weight was 164.4.

I opted to NOT do a steak day to see if I could bring it down with ‘clean’ eating but we were picking up the kids and heading home and I didn’t eat as clean as I wanted to while we traveled.

So I was still at 164.4 today. So today is a steak day. I have had my coffee with a little sugar free creamer but no other food today. I will have my steak and tomato for dinner and will report my findings in the morning.

. . .and stay away from the greasy popcorn . . . :)

7/31/10 P3D9

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 157.2

Exactly two pounds under LDW today.

Had a wonderful day. Woke up early, fed everybody, had a veggie omelet and coffee and hit the road with my sis. We hit St. Vincent Depaul's for some shopping fun then visited Dad in the hospital (bypass surg 2 days ago) for a few hours - he is doing great. We snacked on cherries and string cheese, then after we got home I had zucchini lasagna and a great big salad.

When we took the sitter home I had a McD ice cream along with the kids and then some tuna salad and sugar free GFIC mocha for a late snack.

Just over 1600 calories today and I feel pretty good about them!

I feel awesome!

Tomorrow after church we drop off the kids at my sisters then Mike and I are camping two nights at the campground where we met, then spending two nights pampering ourselves at a Sheraton hotel. I can't wait! Then the twins will be a year old!!!!!

How time flies!

7/29/10 P3D7

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 158.8

Well - that number was a surprise! Yay!!

Today was a really good day. Dad had bypass surgery and is doing GREAT! I had another huge salad at lunchtime and realize that it wasn't so time consuming to do it so I am starting to enjoy making them enough to enjoy eating them!

I had a good run today with speed intervals - :) - that gets interesting! I do a minute each at 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10.0, and 10.5 mph. The last one is wild!

I enjoyed eating today, putting away just over 2000 calories. 500 of that was in mixed nuts I had in the car - so I don't feel too bad. I just had dinner - man I have missed cauliflower!! - and I am planning my menu for tomorrow which will include more of the zucchini lasagna from yesterday!

My husband was a real hero to me today. I wanted him to go dress shopping with me (he hates shopping) so that I could get something he liked too. He went, picked out a few things I would have totally overlooked and one of the dresses he chose was amazing! I plan to wear it to a wedding in August, on my cruise in November and out for dinner one day next week while we are vacationing from our children! He was wonderful!

I am totally satisfied - eating wise and am looking forward to a good night's sleep!!!

7/28/10 P3D6

7/28/10 P3D6

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 161.4

Technically I am over my LDW by 2.2 lbs and should be having a protein day but its so close I am going to wing it and see what happens tomorrow.

Yesterday's salad went over with me so well that I planned another for today. I thought after 40 days of 500calories that salads would come more naturally to me but there is effort involved just 'planning' a salad. And I DO love them!

I had coffee with my SF creamer and a 2egg omelet with peppers, mushrooms, onions and a little cheese for breakfast before taking the angels to daycare. Stopped at McDonalds - totally craving an ice cream cone (WHAT?!?) but the ice cream machine was broken (divine intervention) so I just got a coffee with cream.

I bought two string cheese and two hard boiled eggs at the hospital cafeteria for a snack but only ate the cheese. Lunch was a huge salad with chicken, cukes, tomatoes, mushrooms, a little cheese and my light parmesan italian dressing. Yum!

Dinner was a new adventure. I made noodle-less lasagna. I replaced the noodles with 1/4 inch slices of zucchini. I baked it yesterday right before going to work so it wasn't ready for my dinner but the family tried it and there was much grumbling - so I didn't hold out much hope it was going to be any good. WRONG! It was deeelish! And only 220 calories for a 200gram serving. I bought some mixed veggies in the cafeteria and succumbed to a small bag of popcorn.

After grocery shopping I had a few strawberries and light whipped cream - yeah - I know - off the list - but I went easy on 'em.

I definitely have my appetite back! While shopping I wanted to eat a whole bag of cheese curds or cheese popcorn (cheese popcorn is a fave of mine - especially the greasy jalapeno cheese popcorn or theater popcorn) - but waited til I got home and had the strawberries and some tea.

I felt good today and am expecting good numbers for tomorrow morning!!

07/27/10 P3D5

07/27/10 P3D5
Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 160.6

So 7/25 I had a steak day and yesterday I was back to 161.2 – exactly two pounds over LDW – and safe from another protein/steak day.

Yesterday I had a mushroom/pepper/onion omelet for breakfast with 200g of red grapes. My sis worried that the carbs in the grapes would throw me off and I guess I wasn’t sure what would happen either.

I took the kids to Burger King playland for lunch and ate 4 of their $1 side salads with my own dressing. There’s just something about a salad somebody else makes . . . I also had an EAS carb control protein shake – I am trying to keep up the daily protein intake.

I have found myself craving peanut butter – I have some Smuckers Natural Chunky that I grab a spoonful here and there – so you’ll see that scattered around my diary – YUM!

I had a plan for dinner but when I got to work one of the galz had made these awesome Phase 2 cabbage rolls – outstanding – so I ate that instead with some steamed veggies.
7/26 calorie total was 1570 - yikes – that had me worried.

Then the @#$% hit the fan. When I got home from work I discovered that the kids had gotten water all over my electronic scale and it was totally dead. Talk about upset – I just cried and cried. Here it is 4am and I can’t go get another one, and I don’t know what to do in the morning since my diet for the day is dependent on what I weigh. So this morning I had a small omelet with a little cheese and coffee for breakfast then packed up the monsters and hauled them to walmart to get a new scale. I got it home just before lunchtime, stripped down and it said. . . . . 160.6!!! Hopefully it is accurate and that number is safe for tomorrow.

I made a salad at home today with lettuce, cukes, tomatoes, melba coated chicken and some light parmesan Italian dressing – deeeelish!!! I need to eat more salads – I don’t know why that seems to be an obstacle for me (lazy I think).

After a good run on the treadmill I had an apple and cheese stick for a snack and started getting ready for work. I ate a bag of peppered beef jerky (3oz) when I got to work – that’s a good protein snack for me. Tilapia and asparagus for dinner and 30 in the shell peanuts somebody brought into work. Finished off with ½ apple sliced up and nuked with cinnamon.
7/27 calorie total 1564 (and I earned 455 cals from the run!) Protein was up today and carbs were down (a little) so today was a good day. I’m having stomach cramps again though – gas pain I think . . .what is up with that? Right now it’s just annoying versus being unbearable but I just want them to git!

7/25/10 P3D3 nighttime

7/25/10 P3D3

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 162.0

So I had my steak day! I ate 500-600g of tenderloin for dinner (1300 calories - yikes) but still didn't feel 'full'.

I did have a bite of scrambled egg and some SF coffee creamer for breakfast, and at lunchtime I had a few corn chips with some homemade fresh salsa (the whole 4cup batch is only 123 calories! - of course I didn't eat the whole thing!) I figured I needed a little sustenance because I did my 5k run today plus a good 45-60 minutes of lawnmowing and yardwork - adding 700 calories to my daily allowance. If I had eaten nothing I would have been pretty wiped for the afternoon.

On steak day we are supposed to drink alot of water, but I am not a big water drinker so I figure the 8 cups or so that I had was alot for me, even if it may not have been for someone else.

It is 10pm. I feel really good, but am worried about what the scale will say in the morning! (bites nails nervously)

I'll let you know tomorrow!

7/25/10 P3D3 morning

7/25/10 P3D3 morning

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Last dose weight: 159.2
Today's weight: 162.0

Sorry I have been absent - we were on vacation without internet!!!

Today is Sunday 7/25, my third day of phase 3.

I admit I went a little wild the last few days.

My last dose of HCG was day 38, Tuesday 7/20 - so my "LAST DOSE WEIGHT" was 159.2 - that is the weight I must stay within two pounds of during stabilization and maintenance. I did get down as low as 158.8 on day 39 but have been in the low 161-162 range since - mostly due to misbehavior eating.

Today I weighed 162.0, down from 162.6 yesterday but still 2.8 lbs over LDW so today I am doing a 'steak day' - nothing but tea/water/coffee til dinnertime then as much steak as I like with either a raw tomato or apple. That is supposed to bring me back into LDW range.

I have been feeling pretty good with the exception of Thursday night, the night of day 40 - the night before starting phase 3. Not sure if I had some bad shrimp, bad shrimp sauce (homemade to suit phase 2) or what but I had the worst gas cramps for several hours. I just prayed to burp or pass gas or something!!! Finally I had some diarrhea (sorry if this is TMI - just want to let everyone know my situation) and by morning my discomfort was almost completely gone. I have not had any problems with stomach cramps since. I do tend to blame eating of some kind for the stomach cramps, whether it was bad food or just bad protocol - getting a little wild with the 'new' foods. Either way, I'm glad that's over.

Today is a new week for me. I am about to hit the much-missed treadmill for a 3 mile run!

Take care everyone!!!

7/16/10 HCG day 34, VLCD #32

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 34 weight: 161.8
Net loss: 23.0 lbs

Well I got that 0.2 lbs back!!

Today was an awesome day for me. Kids went to daycare and mom had a spa day!!

The best part of my day was even before the spa though. We have a wedding to attend in August and I am thinking about clothes for the cruise I am taking with my sister in November, so I have been trying to get to the Dress Barn in Green Bay on a day that I was by myself and today was the day. So I walk in - see a bunch of cute dresses - and grab on in a 10 thinking it will never fit but whatever. I chose about 6 outfits - all in a 10 and took them to the dressing room. Not only did they all fit - but one or two I could have gone with an 8!!! I started crying right in the dressing room!!! I NEVER thought I would seriously wear an 8 . . .ever.

So the spa was awesome. Foot soak, facial, massage, manicure, shampoo & blodry, and makeup application - 3 hours total. Man that was great! Then I went to the uniform store to see if I could fit into small scrub pants - I can!!! They were a little snug in the hip but felt great everywhere else! If I lose a few more pounds I may switch to small . . .he he . . I said small.

So - because of the plan for the day my eating was a little disjointed. I had 5 tbsp of creamer in several cups of coffee this morning. I ate 250g of strawberries on the way to the spa, then after the spa had 100g chicken in 1/2 can fireroasted tomatoes. I had errands to do and shopping for our vacation which starts tomorrow, pick up the sitter, the kids, get the frozen groceries in, get the babies in, get everybody fed . . . a part we were waiting for on the lawn mower came in so as soon as everybody had dinner I fixed that and tried to get some lawn mowed. Pretty soon it was 9pm!

I forgot my dinner. For crying out loud, I'm only on 500 calories and I didn't even eat those today!!!

I did make a great discovery though! Aveda salon has a wonderful signature tea called the' - or comfort tea. Delicious - I bought a box of teabags. Each one is only 5cals and no sugar - natural sweeteners only!

Vacation tomorrow. I'll catch up on the blogging when I return in a week!!!

7/15/10 HCG day 33, VLCD #31

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 33 weight: 162.0
Net loss: 22.8 lbs

Well, I was up again today. Just 0.2 lbs but still up. :(

I had only stevia in my coffee today, no creamer, but decided to have that scrambled egg for breakfast. I rather enjoy that.

I took the kids to the local amusement park today (had an apple on the way) and they always want (and get) some popcorn at the concession. They have the most AWESOME popcorn there. I had planned on having a kernel or two and ended up eating about 2 cups worth. Delish! But still, in my old life, I would have eaten WAY more - so I still think I have gained loads of discipline on this plan.

So because of the egg and the popcorn, I aimed to eat lean the rest of the day. Lunch was shrimp and asparagus. Dinner was melba coated tilapia and lots of cabbage.

Finished off with some strawberries.

I have been really bad at remembering to take my HCG when I am supposed to. Yesterday I totally missed my second dose. Today was better but I think a few days ago I missed both doses. Maybe that is why the weight loss is not fabulous??

We'll see tomorrow.

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 32 weight: 161.8
Net loss: 23.0 lbs

Yay! Down!

Well, the weight loss seems to be slowing but still moving in the right direction! I have decided to go for 40 days this round, just to see how close I can get to my 'gold medal' of 155. At this point I don't expect to get all the way there, but at least getting to 159 moves me officially out of the 'overweight' range, and I should be able to drop 2.5 lbs in the remaining 8 days I plan to VCLD.

Today I had coffee with stevia and a scrambled egg for breakfast again. Lunch at work was celery soup and melba coated chicken. I snacked on 250g strawberries throughout the day and had taco seasoned lean ground beef over lettuce & spinach for dinner. I went to bed soon after getting home from work so I didn't get that second fruit today.

The only other thing I had was a few breath mints - an impulse item I bought on the way to work.

Lots of great comments from the coworkers!! I'll take that encouragement anytime!!!

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 31 weight: 162.8
Net loss: 22.0 lbs

Well ain't that a shame! Up 0.4 lbs . . .wah.

Since I am writing this at midnight and just weighed myself I know I will have a good number tomorrow so I'm not concerned . . . but the number was enough to get me to eat clean all day, pretty much.

I have really been wanting a run and swore today was the day. I had coffee with stevia, 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 grapefruit for breakfast then got a 2 mile run at 8am. Around 11am or so I was out mowing the ditches and around all the stuff that's hard to get with the rider . . about 45 minutes of good exercisin' yardwork. By 1pm I was sooo ready for lunch. I had melba coated tilapia and cabbage since that is a pretty low cal meal. Still, by 2:30 I was pretty wiped. Increased exercise, the VLCD and a lack of sleep (only 3 1/2 hours last night) combined made me just whipped so I had 1/2 serving of whey protein and 1/2 a pretzel rod and about 1/2 hour later felt tons better.

Dinner was lean too. Shrimp with cucumbers and strawberries. Tonight was Bunco night with the girls. Lots of GREAT comments and inquiries. But also lots of great food and drink. The only thing I had was three pieces of broken up baked corn chip with as much fresh salsa as I could get on them! No guilt really.

MFP estimates I burned 750 calories between the run and the yardwork so I guess I forgive myself for going over 500 today!!

Stall! Not really. No change today but unless it lasts for a few days I’m not gonna get worked up over it. Besides, I am having tenderloin for dinner and that will put me over and I’m still having it!!

A little coffee creamer today . . .if the ‘stall’ lasts, I’ll cut it out. :(

Didn’t eat lunch til 2:30, melba coated baked chicken and ½ can fire roasted tomatoes along with ½ grapefruit.

Dinner is a whole onion sautéed in a little beef broth and 100g of tenderloin.

An apple nuked with cinnamon for a dessert and my calorie ‘overload’ is complete.

Oh – didn’t get my run today. . . hopefully tomorrow.

Amazin! Officially 100 lbs less than when we entered the hospital to deliver the twins August 5, 2009 at 262.5!!!

Today was a pretty good day! I stretched less creamer over several cups of coffee this morning :):). Then switched to tea. I dunno why I am always cold - at home I can drink iced tea all the time but at work I always want something hot! Lunch was 1/2 can fire roasted tomatoes with 112g lean ground beef (thats 1/4 of the pound - makes it easier to divide) and a few red pepper flakes. YUM!

Dinner just before leaving work was 1/2 can of seasoned canned chicken and about 200g of asparagus. More YUM!

I had my orange after I got home and didn't even need the second fruit. I am aching for a run so I am going to try to get in two miles tomorrow if the kids will let me!

Holy cats! Two lbs in a single day! I dunno what I did to deserve that but lets do it again!!!

Today was another early work day so I had my coffee creamer and again chose to forgo my 2nd fruit. An illegal swap, but I did it nonetheless.

Day started great! I had my coffee in the morning and stretched my servings of creamer over several cups. Still wanting something hot to drink and not needing any more caffeine, I switched to tea mid-morning which I also enjoy. I didn’t eat my orange until 11:30 or noon, and saved my lunch of melba coated tilapia for about 2pm. I couldn’t bear to toss out the rest of the veggies from the cookout last weekend so I finished them off as my vegetable. In all they came to 74 calories worth of grilled onion, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms and grape tomatoes. Oh, yeah, the carrot cake that I made got some very positive comments so I caved and had a teeny sliver . . . I allotted 38 calories for it.

Dinner was really late – like 9pm cuz I got called back in to work. I had my seasoned chicken over a bed of lettuce, and since it was so late I never even missed that 2nd fruit!

Day 27 weight: 165.0

Net loss: 19.8 lbs
Good loss today but that scale just wouldn’t give me the last 0.2 lbs I needed to make 20!! So be it . . . tomorrow then!

On Fridays I work an early shift so I leave the house before ‘breakfast’ or coffee or anything. It also means more coffee than usual because I don’t have the kids distracting me from every hot cup I try to have at home. I decided early in the day to (illegally and against protocol) trade my second fruit for my beloved SF Vanilla Coffeemate. I carefully measured out each spoonful and after my second cup switched to stevia – which was a sacrifice but one that had to be made. Turned out that I underestimated my creamer serving since I was using a regular spoon instead of a tablespoon. I was putting in two ‘spoonfuls’ and calling it a tablespoon but actually a tablespoon would have been three! So I saved myself a few calories and today – another early workday – I will allow myself three beloved cups before switching to stevia!

So, an orange in mid-morning, my taco lean beef and lettuce at lunchtime, and dinner was 100g chicken coated with seasoned crushed melba and cooked cabbage. After dinner all I had was iced tea with stevia but I did really okay!

There may be something to this ‘drink a lot of fluids’ idea . . . that’s one of those theories that I always ‘talked the talk, but didn’t walk the walk”. . . ya know what I mean!

This is officially the bronze medal!

Another good number! 0.8 lbs down! Maybe there is something to this 'clean eating' and strictly following the diet thing?!?

Today was a pretty good day. Orange for breakfast. Yummy chicken 'taco's on lettuce for lunch. Dinner was my celery 'soup' with 100g chicken. And a strawberry smoothie for dessert.

Had another baking therapy day! I made an apple crisp (that will go to work tomorrow morning). Then while shopping for ingredients for a slow cooker roast the only bag of carrots I could find was this ENORMOUS bag of huge carrots. So I cut up what I wanted for the roast, cooked some more to go with dinner for the family tonight, and then chopped the rest to make two carrot cakes - one for Friday night church and one to take to work for the weekend staff (I work at a hospital - those people KNOW how to eat)!

Feeling fantastic tonight - one of my best days yet! Oh, it doesn't hurt that I was comfortably wearing size 8 jeans all day and in public at the grocery store!!!

Woo hoo!

Finally - a good number! 1.0 lbs down today! I ate clean yesterday for the first time in a few days - you know - little cheats or protocols breaks like mixing veggies or having a chip or two. So yesterday and today I ate clean - no cheating.

I had a great day today. Kids went to daycare and I had the day off. Went fishing with my Dad - very relaxing! Put off eating until late afternoon though. Had an orange around 2:30p, my 'chili' (1/2 can fire roasted tomatoes plus lean ground beef and chili powder) at about 3:30.

Went to a movie with my husband - another excellent time of relaxing! I am a popcorn junkie - it's one of those things that I must be able to have when I return to my 'normal eating' - THEATER popcorn that is - and alot of it although rarely. I had seasoned melba coated tilapia and 220g of asparagus - very tasty and filling. Then had a lemon strawberry smoothie for dessert.

I was a little carb-craving tonight. I made some banana nut bread but didn't have any. Another thing that I must learn to have in moderation.

Overall, a fantastic day!

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 24 weight: 167.4
Net loss: 17.4 lbs

Small progress today; only 0.2 lbs down. I call it ‘disappointed but not discouraged’!!

No matter how well it started, and how well prepared you think you are for a stall, it is still difficult and a little frustrating though. Fortunately my sis sent me her detailed progress chart from her 45 day phase 2 run, so I refer to that and know that though she had stalls, they were followed by more success!

Orange and coffee for breakfast. Then a lot of chasing/errands with the kids. Had shrimp and cabbage for lunch while preparing more meals for the next week. I cooked up several servings of chicken and tilapia coated with crushed melba and spices – delish! Dinner was a ‘soup’ made with tons of celery and 100g chicken – very satisfying. Also, for the first time I tried a yummy snack of sliced apple with stevia and cinnamon in the microwave – OH MAN – that was totally yummy!

So today I stayed on protocol hard core, NO CHEATS, and was under the 500 mark.

No loss today, but I was up really (REALLY) early with the babies. If I could have gotten that last two hours of sleep, perhaps I would have shown a small loss today. I guess I’ll have to wait til tomorrow!! My daily average has officially now fallen to just under 0.8 lbs/day.

Raining on and off today. Finally decided to get out of the house and take the kids to the zoo. I packed PBJ sandwiches for the hubby and kids with some other snacks and some strawberries for me.

I don’t feel my ‘kebab’ experiment was detrimental to the plan, so I had the same choices for lunch this afternoon. Very yummy.

Dinner was ½ can (I know, more than 100g) of chicken with taco like spices and the super salsa Penny made on lettuce, plus I had 150g of asparagus.

My late night orange put me over 500, but I just love those oranges! My sis found a new book with LOTS of recipes for phase 2 HCG, some of which I definitely intend to try after my next shopping trip! It is called The HCG Dieter Gourmet Cookbook by Tammy Skye. Barnes & Noble has it for about $21-22. She is working on a phase three cookbook as well!!!

7/04/10 HCG day 22, VLCD #20

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 22 weight: 167.6
Net loss: 17.2 lbs

A slightly greater loss today - I am pleased. I am also now only 8 lbs from being officially NOT overweight - BMI under 25. Unbelievable and fantastic!

Since today is the 4th of July, I had a plan to do something just a little different. We had company over for a cookout, so I planned to make kebabs with chicken and vegetables. I know the HCG protocol says not to mix vegetables, but this was sort of an experiment.

I carefully measured out 25grams each of raw mushrooms, green pepper, onion, grape tomatoes and zucchini and grilled them using only a little Pam Organic Olive Oil spray. Besides the fact that they were DELICIOUS , the veggies totaled only 31 calories. I had 75g of grilled chicken - no oil - just a little of the Pam spray.

I did have an apple at breakfast time, and was really hungry at 2pm while preparing for the cookout so I finished off what I had left of cooked cabbage.

Late lunch was the kebabs at which time I also ate one potato chip.

We went to Green Bay for the fireworks after dinnertime and about 8pm I had my lettuce and taco beef mixture, along with one sour cream and onion potato chip and one jalapeno cheeto. Those jalapeno cheetos almost did it though; I could sit and eat a whole bag of those babies!!

Because my calorie total was just over 500, I opted to skip my 2nd fruit, instead having one more bite each of the grilled veggies from earlier in the day when we finally got home after 11pm.

One thing to note - may or may not have to do with the diet or lack of sleep or whatever - but I was just wiped out this afternoon. I certainly don't want to give fuel to those against the HCG diet but feel it is better to be up front about everything.

I can't believe it but as I sit here at 9:45pm I just realized that I never took my HCG today!?!?! What is up with that?

Anyway . . . the last two nights (days 19 and 20) I had a strawberry smoothie with my late fruit, but instead of adding stevia I used xylitol - not realizing that it has calories. So my totals for those days are off by 30-40 calories but I'm not going back to fix it now. I am curious if the xylitol affected the weight loss plan at all so I am cutting it out until after phase 2.

Today I had planned to have tenderloin for one meal, and knowing that it is the highest calorie protein in my arsenal, I tried to be good the rest of the day, but ended up going over anyway.

Breakfast was coffee w/stevia and an orange. Lunch was my 'chili': 112g lean ground beef with 1/2 can fire roasted tomatoes and chili powder.

Dinner was an onion sauteed in broth with the tenderloin. Then I had my strawberries just plain tonight.

A small loss today, but a loss nonetheless. Hoping to have good results over the next few days!

Hi ho!

Well I was up 0.2 lbs today. Somebody suggested I do an 'apple day' but fortunately I am not that reactive to the lack of loss and am willing to see what happens over the course of the next few days. with the understanding that some days will show greater losses than others.

For anyone following the blog on MFP, there are some pretty heated threads regarding HCG diets and some pretty strong opinions on both sides of the discussion. I think it is each individual's responsibility to do a little research about their diet/fitness plan, perhaps take some advice/influence from others, and make responsible choices about their weight and health, and to respect the opinions of those who disagree without being insulting or aggressive.

Anyway . . .

Fridays I work an early shift so I didn't have my 'cheat' coffee creamer anyway. I had black coffee with stevia and a 1/2 grapefruit for breakfast. I did encounter a new problem today though: I drink alot of coffee; I love it. At home I drink 1/2 caffeine coffee but today at work I had like five mugs of the real stuff and boy was I jumpy all morning!!! At lunch I had shrimp with more homemade shrimp sauce and lots of cabbage. To save on calories I had only 1/2 can of fire-roasted tomatoes with my serving of ground beef tonight for a 'chili'. Then saved my strawberries for another yummy smoothie after the kids go to bed and I get some tv time!

July first!!! Woo hoo! I am starting to think about and plan for phase 3 - stabilization. I am pleased with my progress so far, and since I have a vacation planned for July 16th, I am considering starting phase 3 then, however, it is a little scary to think about because the meals in this phase are, if nothing else, easy. I am wary of making good decisions once the leash is looser.

I forgot to take my HCG til almost noon and boy was I cranky this morning! Maybe unrelated, maybe not, just sayin'.

Breakfast was my 2 happy cups of coffee with the creamer and an orange. Lunch was 225g of grilled asparagus and 100g of shrimp with some phase 2 legal shrimp sauce a friend of mine made (she is down 5 lbs on day 5).

Dinner was absolutely delicious tonight. Seasoned chicken with a few onions and some phase 2 legal salsa (made by the same friend) on lettuce leaves. Just outstanding!

I am saving my 2nd fruit, strawberries, for a smoothie later tonight.

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 18 weight: 168.8
Net loss: 16.0 lbs

So far the cheat/addition of the morning coffee creamer has not been a detriment to the weight loss. As long as that holds true, I have decided to have two cups of coffee in the am with my favorite french vanilla sugar free coffee mate. The big difference is that I measure two tablespoons instead of dumping 'some' in and guessing how much I used. Also this morning I had a bite of the kids scrambled eggs again.

Today was the first day some of my co-workers have seen me since day 3, when I was over 20lbs heavier. There were some very positive comments and inquiries about the program which I am always happy to share.

Also, I took a run before work. I went just under two miles and noticed that I was able to go a little faster than I had been running two weeks ago. It felt FANTASTIC!!!

I had an apple for a mid-morning snack, then melba-coated chicken and a can of fire-roasted tomatoes for lunch (at 235 calories that is kind of a high-calorie lunch for this program). Dinner was 96/4 ground beef with lettuce, and 200g of strawberries.

Day 18 calorie total: 620 - I didn't realize it was that high until it was too late. I'll do better tomorrow.

See you tomorrow!

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 17 weight: 170.0
Net loss: 14.8 lbs

Getting in a groove!

I expect the daily average weight loss to decrease but it sure is fun to see good numbers like today (down 1.2 lbs!) sometimes!!!

This morning I had two cups of my coffee with my SF creamer that I love, and one bite of scrambled eggs that I made for the babies. We spent the better part of the morning at the local mini-amusement park with the kids then went to hubby’s work for lunch. He was having a cookout for all his truck driver clients with lots of beans, brats, burgers, grilled chicken, chips, cookies and a fruit and veggie tray. I had some celery and a hunk of grilled chicken breast. I also ate one dorito!!

I had strawberries before coming to work, then dinner was 150g of tilapia breaded with crushed melba and seasonings – yummy. Add to that a large bowl of cooked cabbage and a half a grapefruit and my eating is complete.

Just a note on the drops. Yesterday I totally forgot my second dose – oops! And then today I forgot to take the drops with me so didn’t get my first dose til 4:30 pm, second til
7pm. Not sure how much difference that will make on weight or how I feel but thought I’d mention it. Tomorrow I’ll remember to carry it with me!

6/28/10 HCG day 16, VLCD #14

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 16 weight: 171.2
Net loss: 13.6 lbs

Well I am just about recovered from my lack of sleep last week and the interruption in my motivation yesterday!

Also – two major milestones today. First, I broke 172 for the first time in my adult life. Can’t tell you what a great feeling that is!! Second, I just passed up my sister who is currently on phase four after a great first round of phase 2/3. She will be starting phase 2 again in August sometime, then she’ll pass me up again. We motivate and complement each other very well. Soon we will be shopping for matching bikinis!

Today I feel great! I had a wonderful time today with my kids and husband. I got a bunch of meals prepared, some yardwork done, a little housework, and spent some sweet quality time with my oldest. I feel very accomplished today!

The day started out well. I chose to have my coffee creamer again today. Damage: 30 calories. I also ate one bite of the Danish layer cake I made last week before tossing out the last piece. Rather to waste it than to waist it, ya know?!? By the way, I thought it was delicious!

I had my apple around 11am. About 1pm I tried making this tomato, vinegar, green chilies sauce thing to dip my shrimp in and it was okay, but not really like shrimp sauce. I’ll keep experimenting with it though. I had my favorite taco beef and lettuce for dinner and planned to have strawberries for a late snack but just never got around to it.

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 15 weight: 172.2
Net loss: 12.6 lbs

I guess if it had to happen, it had to happen.

I woke up depressed because I had lost my motivation because of something someone negative online said about HCG being ineffective.

Thank goodness for supportive, positive, encouraging people at church. Although I did cheat a little today, I accept whatever consequences may occur with my numbers tomorrow and am resolved to continue with renewed vigor and dedication.

I had 1/2 grapefruit plus 2 tbsp of my favorite sugar free coffee creamer in the morning at breakfast, and another cup of coffee the same way just before bed. After church, I ate three tiny squares of lemon bar and I licked the knife I used to cut cheesecake for the kids. We had company over all afternoon and I had my orange while watching the kids swim. We grilled out tonight, so I had a small serving of the commercially seasoned chicken instead of my home prepared chicken, but bypassed the cookies and chips and ate a large portion of cabbage which I really did enjoy. One of the kids left 1/2 of their strawberry mush topped cheesecake in the dish, and I was weak, so I finished it. All in all, not too bad for a cheat day, although as far as I know, my sis (the rock) never cheated on the diet in 45 days.

Tomorrow is another day. I was telling myself that as my old jeans were falling off me this evening.

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 14 weight: 172.6
Net loss: 12.2 lbs

Well, if I was going to cheat on the diet, today would have been the day. After four days of not enough sleep and an online suggestion that HCG doesn't work, I was having a rough day. I was cranky & tired. We had family in town to visit. There was pizza and grilled cheese for lunch ( I had chicken and celery). I had one of my baking fits and made cheesecake at my daughter's request and lemon bars for church tomorrow. I love to lick the bowl/beaters and that was tough not to do today. I really looked forward to dinner though. I had no trouble withstanding pork roast and mashed potatoes because I had my lean ground beef 'chili' made with a can of fire roasted tomatoes. And really had no trouble saying no to dessert once dinner was over. I had an orange mid-afternoon and an apple after the kids were in bed.

I think I just need to get caught up on some sleep.

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 13 weight: 173.4
Net loss: 11.4 lbs

What a wonderful day. I got the kids off to daycare on time (miracle) and got a few errands run before taking a bunch of baby equipment to my folks for their rummage sale.

Got home with almost enough time to shower, pack lunch and dinner and head to work!

I had an orange on the way home from the grocery store around 11am, then didn’t get ‘lunch’ til almost 5pm! I had shrimp with lemon pepper and a whole can of asparagus.
Dinner was my fave – taco seasoned ground beef and lettuce – I like the taste and it really fills up a plate (and my tummy).

Bought some new grapefruits too – so ½ for a late snack will round out my eating for the day!

They had a potluck at work today for a co-worker’s return from illness and there was an amazing salad with greens, noodles, cheese, green pepper – I could have done some damage to that dish!! But, alas, I stayed true to my protocol. In just a few short weeks I will be able to have a lot more variety, and I am worth the wait.

6/24/10 HCG day 12, VLCD #10

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 12 weight: 174.0
Net loss: 10.8 lbs

Yay! A loss today! My sister (sweet thing that she is) called me yesterday just to be sure I was weathering my no loss/increase okay, which I was. She also reminded me that my weight loss will probably average closer to ½ pound per day, and since I am down 10.8 lbs on day 12 (average daily loss of .9 lbs) that smaller losses are more likely to occur to bring down that average.

Whatever! Big loss; small loss. Loss is loss, man!

I am pretty tired today but I think it is because of my odd work hours this week. I am working 4 days straight til 3am and still have to get up at 7am (sometimes earlier) with the kids. I have gotten 7 hours of sleep in the last two days and I have two more to go. Ugh.

I ate my lunch a little early today – around noon – cuz I was hungry. I had grilled chicken and a ‘celery soup’ I made with some no sugar chicken broth and spices, and an apple.

Dinner was a huge plate of lettuce with my taco seasoned 96/4 ground beef. I really like that a lot. And then strawberries for a late snack.

More hazelnut coffee and my night will be complete. People are starting to comment on the change and I am telling everybody about HCG!!

Day 12 calorie total: 468 yay!

6/23/10 HCG day 11, VLCD#9

6/23/10 HCG day 11, VLCD #9

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 11 weight: 174.8
Net loss: 10.0 lbs

Well today is the first day of no loss, and actually a gain of .2 lbs. I was prepared for this to happen as it usually does at some point, especially to women. So I’m taking it in stride and not stressing over it. Nuff said.

One of the things I have been looking forward to eating again is my flavored sugar free coffee creamer. I used to drink that stuff by the gallon. Tonight however I tried a flavored coffee with stevia and it was really good! In the past I have not liked flavored coffee – opting instead for flavored creamer – but I gotta admit – this is going down gooooooood!

Today was my shopping day. I spent over an hour at Goodwill trying on clothes; even stuff I knew I wasn’t going to buy. I tried on some old prom dresses for kicks! I grabbed several pairs of jeans in every size from 6 to 12. I found a pair of Eddie Bauer 12s that were made for me. I also found a pair of Lee Rider stretch jeans in a size 6 – and actually got them on my butt and zipped – until I had to breathe again. That was cool! I almost started crying in the changing room!!!!! I totally bought them – I’ll be wearing those by my birthday in September – mark my word. I found a dress and a skirt for church and few tops to wear golfing with my husband. I even found a couple shirts for him.

Also, I stopped at the grocery to get some beef tenderloin. My sis has it around as a staple for phase 3 and 4 and I never buy it but did today. They had samples of cooked tenderloin on little toothpics in the meat department and I sampled a handful – getting in my 100 grams – I mean – it was 2pm and time for my lunch anyway right!!?? So when I got home I ate my veggie (asparagus) and made a strawberry smoothie with strawberries ice and stevia – a very yummy cold treat on a hot day.

For dinner I had my 96/4 ground beef with a can of fire roasted tomatoes and chili powder then when I added up my calories I found I was already at 574. So do I eat my apple or not . . . . I’m leaning toward not.

6/22/10 HCG day 10, VLCD#8

Day 1 weight: 184.8
Day 10 weight: 174.6
Net loss: 10.2 !!!

I couldn't take it anymore so today a went for a run! Granted, it was only 1.5 miles but I was glad to be able to do it and it always makes me feel good!!!

Cooked up some more food today! 96% lean ground beef, some seasoned for taco salads, some plain to mix into a chili concoction. Also lemon pepper grilled chicken and I took two servings of chicken pieces and coated them with crushed melba mixed with onion powder, garlic powder, parsley, paprika and a little black pepper, then baked them like shake & bake. That was pretty good. I also grilled up some asparagus on the electric grill and tried sauteeing asparagus in a little chicken broth as well. That was pretty yummy too.

At breakfast I planned to have 1/2 grapefruit, but when I cut it open it was really dry and I decided not to waste my precious calories on a substandard fruit. Lunch was really early today: 11:30am - not sure why - just when I was cooking and testing I guess. On the flip side, dinner was really late: 9:30pm. An orange in between and some strawberries as a late night snack and my day is complete.

I find myself thinking about the choices I will make when I begin phase 3 and can add some phase 2 forbidden foods. Coffee creamer! I'd give my left arm for my sugar free french vanilla coffee mate!!! I still want that cheese popcorn too! Even just a 1/2 cup!!!

But these are cravings. I am not hungry. Three more weeks or so of this is completely an achievable goal!!! Plus some gals at work are going to start soon so I will have more people to bounce ideas off of!!!

6/21/10 HCG day 9, VLCD #7

Start weight: 184.8

Today's weight: 175.2

Net loss: 9.6 lbs

I had some serious cravings today. I really wanted some cheese popcorn. I even bought some "for the kids" but they didn't want it so I didn't even get to smell it.

I tried out a new recipe today for Danish Layer Cake. (It's what I do: make desserts I can't eat then force others to eat it.) It was a mess but I was told it tasted pretty good. I had to really resist licking the spatula, bowl, beaters . . etc. But I stayed true to the protocol and did NOT cheat.

Today I had an orange with my coffee at breakfast. For lunch I had the last prepared serving of my 90/10 seasoned ground beef (so now I only have 96/4 beef) with lettuce. Dinner was cooked cabbage and crabmeat (gotta find something more exciting to do with the crabmeat or it's outta here), and strawberries for a snack after the dishes were done and the family was testing the Danish Layer Cake.

No hunger. Plenty of energy. 9 days in . . . ?? days to go.

TODAY'S WEIGHT: 175.6

NET LOSS: 9.2 lbs

Father's day AND my husband's birthday! LOTS of food at church today. There was alot of stuff I wanted to try, especially a dessert made with angel food, whipped cream and butterfingers!!! but I had no trouble staying on plan - I MEAN ITS WORKING!

This is my lowest weight in almost 20 years! And I am only 8 days into it!

Today I had tilapia and a tomato for lunch. Shrimp with fire roasted tomatoes, and strawberries for dinner.

Saved my orange for eating by the TV after the kids were in bed, but dozed off and ended up not eating it anyway.

I had some of that euphoria they talk about today! In the early afternoon, before I had eaten anything too.

Start weight 184.8

Today's weight: 177

Net loss 7.8 lbs!!!

Feeling great! Not suffering at all! I do find myself looking forward to my meals though!

Today I attended a graduation party and forgot my prepared meal so I peered thru the chips, crackers, cheese, sausage, nacho bar - hoping to find a veggie tray . . I did finally find some shredded chicken (hope it was chicken .. and lean!) and some strawberries.

I ate some cucumbers around 5:30 when we returned from the party. I know I am supposed to eat my vegetable with my protein, but there just wasn't any available at the time.

Dinner was late, 8pm, my yummy seasoned beef on a huge plate of lettuce, and an orange around 9 while watching TV.

This isn't difficult as long as I keep thinking of it as temporary - and it doesn't hurt that the results have been great so far!

I am, of course, very encouraged by the numbers!! It's easier to continue any plan when the fruits of labor are seen right away. That said, I am down a net 5.8 lbs (not including the 6.8 I gained on load days)

Today I ate 200g of strawberries for breakfast. At 2pm I had 100g chicken with 1/2 can of fire roasted tomatoes. At 7:30 I had 100g tilapia and 2 big tomatoes (480 grams for 86 calories - I hope that was okay!?!?) Once again I forgot my melba toast.

Calorie total: 491 - yay!!

Had plenty of energy and did not feel hungry. Although at work theyhad lots of goodies I wanted once I saw them, but not because of hunger!

6/17/10 HCG day 5, VLCD#3

6/17/10 HCG day 5 VLCD#3

- final calorie total 548

Moving in the right direction.
Today's weight: 182.2, down 2.6 lbs from my day one weight of 184.8 which means Iost all my load days weight plus 2.6.
More balanced eating today. Ate my strawberries at breakfast, chicken and asparagus at 2pm, ground beef and lettuce at dinner, and a delicious orange in the evening.
I need to buy leaner beef. I finished at 548 but am using 90% lean beef because it is what I had on hand. I bought some 96/4 today and will use that in the future - I have one or two more prepared servings of the 90% and since the weight is dropping will use them before switching.
Feeling good. Billboards give me cravings but I'm not physically hungry - I just see lots of stuff I want to put in my mouth.
see you tomorrow!

6/16/10 HCG day 4, VLCD #2

6/16/10 HCG day 4, VLCD #2 - final calorie total 570
Weight - 186.0 - down 5.6 from yesterdays high. At 11am when I showered getting ready for work I weighed 184.8 - back down to my starting weight. Can't wait to see what it says tomorrow morning.
I ate lunch late today (work was busy). Ground beef cooked with taco seasonings (not from a package - they contain sugar!) over about 3 cups of mixed greens. Delicious! Also 1/2 grapefruit.
Dinner was chicken and asparagus. I am at 447 calories and still have a 116cal apple to go, but today is grocery day so I may just buy some strawberries after work and eat them instead, saving the apple for tomorrow.

Feeling good. No lethargy or anything like that.

See you tomorrow!

6/15/10 HCG day 3, VLCD #1

6/15/10 HCG day 3, VLCD 1
After two load days, I am up 6.8 lbs to 191.6 - yikes.

The day went well. I spent the morning measuring and cooking up about 10-12 meals for the rest of the week. I had grilled chicken and cucumbers for lunch. Strawberries and an apple for a snack before dinner. Chicken with fire-roasted tomatoes for dinner.
No hunger pangs except just before dinner when I ate my apple, then I was fine.
Forgot my melba toast today - oops. I did drink alot of tea but not much water.

See you tomorrow!

6/14/10 HCG day2, 2nd load day

Day one I weighed 184.8
Load day two: 189.4 - yikes!

Did so-so on my first 'load day' yesterday. My sis says if I am doing it right I should be uncomfortably full.

I'm closer to that today. Just eating things that I would not usually eat, but enjoy - like those Little Debbie swiss rolls and a baked potato slathered in butter.

Tomorrow we begin VLCD #1.

I am so ready.

6/11/2010 Pre HCG

Today is Friday June 11th, 2010.

This morning I weighed 183.6. Tomorrow I am running my first 10k race. Sunday I start my first round of HCG phase 2.

I was 189 when I joined myfitnesspal.com in January 2010, and have gotten as low as 177 then back up to 190. So I have chosen to give HCG a try.
I need something strict to regain my discipline.

I'll keep you posted.
